I didn’t know about your music background! What a fun discovery. My first degree was in music, and the arts have elements in each of them that have always seemed related to me. And when I get stuck in one form of the arts, taking a break in another one always helps!
Definitely a Ray Bradbury fan. I remember attending one of his book talks as a teenager and having him sign a book that had once been my dad's. Oddly, I liked his darker stories (The Veldt) a lot. Teenage angst, maybe. Now I want everything to end happily!
What an absolutely lovely posting. I am currently job-hunting or I would sign on as a paid subscriber.
I have a lovely memory of a big chunk of my summer (at 14) discovering "The Martian Chronicles" then quickly gobbling everything ever written by Bradbury. I thought it was the perfect way to discover him, the last summer I had the luxury of long, idle (almost, except for a little under-the-table chambermaiding) days and reading late into the night.
P.S. I feel my story I wrote about my Android "would be son" (a sensitive job recruiter named "AI ROGER") may have been unconsciously inspired by all that Bradbury reading. Sending along a Medium "Friend" link to it if you are so inclined to read! --
Congrats on your new book!

Love the song, Debbie! What a nice tribute.
Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite writers, and his short story, "All Summer in a Day," is one of my favorite stories.
Totally!!! Nerdy, enduring, inspiring obsessions and heroes from our childhood -- I love this post.
Thank you, Sue!
